Star Trek: First Contact (1996)

no further!”

The eighth Star Trek film is the first to feature none of the Original Series cast.  Having failed to prevent a holocaust, the Next Generation crew must go back in time to undo an alien invasion.  Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Data (Brent Spiner) stay and defend the Enterprise as an away team works to preserve Earth’s history.

The darkness of this film threatens the standard Star Trek tone but also allows the franchise to present the coolest, edgiest version of itself.  Actor/director Jonathan Frakes keeps things reasonably clear for the Untrek, even packed as it is with time travel, zombies, and Moby Dick analogies.
